In college I spent a ridiculous amount of hours in front of a computer screen. After college I attempted to keep my time on a computer limited. However, that is not the generation we live in. For some time now, my wife ... Maggie has kept a number of blogs on different websites (that's right ... SHE ... said yes to ME ... and I didn't even have to drug her.) She does a pretty good job of keep things up on "us" ... specifically pictures. She has always encouraged me to have some kind of blog as well. I managed to push it to the side ... again trying to limit computer interaction.
In recent weeks and months I have realized a blog could be very beneficial. One - it gives me the oppurtunity to put my thoughts down. Two - allows me the oppurtunity to keep friends and family abreast of where Maggie and I have been as well as what we are doing. Three - its cool. And four (and probably the best reason) - It gives me the oppurtunity to give glory to GOD through what he is doing HERE. Truthfully I could name many reasons why a blog would be beneficial and very few reasons why I think it would not be.
So ... why is this site called "Tip of the spear For Him"? Well, a spear has many important parts: a sturdy shaft to provide strength to the spear, possible hand grips for control and yield of the spear, a connector between the shaft and the piercing object of the spear, and the tip of the spear ... the object that hits target first. For those with little knowledge of military "lingo", "tip of the spear" is a term often used for those that are first to the fight. As a Naval Flight Officer that flys F/A-18 Super Hornets off the end of an aircraft carrier, I have often thought of myself a a part of the military "tip of the spear". However, I believe the the term "tip of the spear" can mean more than first to the fight in a military engagement. If I were to choose in my spiritual life the part of the spear I long to be ... I would definately choose the pointy end.
So what can be expected on my blog site. I say "expect the unexpected". You could check this site and find anything from where and what I am doing (hopefully with pictures included) to a random devotational on life to even a new recipe that Maggie cooked up that I thought I should share with everyone. As with Maggie's dishes, I can't tell you what I will cook up, but I can say it will be enjoyable and filling. -kcH
